The IACA annual Dragon Boat Festival picnic, a
favorite summer event for many of our members, was held at Eagle
Creek Park Marina on Saturday, June 18, 2005. Mother Nature co-operated
with bright sunshine, and cool temperature. FCC-IN (Family with
Children from China – Indianapolis) joined us for the celebration.
We shared fellowship, good food, and fun-filled children activities.
It’s a great opportunities for our members to catch up with
each other, enjoy stories of growing youngsters, family outings
and planned summer travels. Over two hundred adults and children
attended this event.

Every participant was greeted at our registration desk. IACA
membership directory was distributed for members there too. Every
family brought their special dish to share. IACA prepared Tsungtzi,
the special Dragon Boat Festival rice dumpling, hot dogs, hamburgers
and drinks. Young children were busy with their craft activities
and games while adults enjoyed visiting and helping youngsters
with their paper cutting, coloring and drawing.
As a tradition, annual Telamon Scholarship and IACA gift to high
school graduates were announced. (Scholarship recipients’
winning essays will be published in this and later issues of this
Newsletter under Voices of our Youth.) Finally, many participants
enjoyed popular pontoon boat rides on beautiful Eagle Creek reservoir.
