IACA 2003 Chinese New Year Party:

The 2003 IACA Chinese New Year party was held on February 1, 2003 at the Carmel High School cafeteria. More than 500 members and guests came to celebrate the Year of the Sheep/Ram and a good time was had by all. The party was jointly sponsored by IACA and the Indianapolis Chapter of FCC (Families with Children from China).

The entertainment program for the evening was packed, including performances from the Panda Lion dancers, Chinese musical presentations, and "xiangsheng" (Chinese style comedy).

Perhaps the highlight of the evening (aside from the dinner provided by Super 8 China Buffet) was from the IACA Lion Dance Group, whose lion dance generated much enthusiasm and applause from the audience. This group has produced many fantastic performances in the past representing IACA and spreading awareness of Chinese culture. Following an age-old tradition, children and adults lined up during the dance to feed the lion with "hongbao" (red envelopes with dollar bills enclosed) for good luck.

During the party, the new council members of IACA for 2003 introduced themselves. FCC representatives presented flowers and special appreciation to Wei Bao Fong and Xiao Hua Huang for their support of FCC. Raffle tickets were given out to all guests for prizes that were provided by Super 8 and King Chef.

All IACA council members and volunteers from both IACA and FCC are commended for their hard work and dedication in making this special night fun and memorable!
