1. The President's Corner The President’s Corner Dear IACA members: Happy Chinese New Year in the Year of the Horse! I hope you all enjoyed the Chinese New Year party held at Wayne Township Fire Academic Conference Center on February 23, 2002. This event was sponsored by both IACA and FCC. A total of 490 people including 130 children participated to celebrate the year of the horse. The evening program started with a lion dance. The loud music coming off the drum and gong, the yelling noise from the children and parents and the vociferous conversations from adults were all blended into a special atmosphere. This is the right way to celebrate Chinese New Year. The lion team collected “Hung-Bao” (red envelopes) filled with blessings showered from spectators that will bring luck to both performers and spectators. The lovely Panda Academy and Panda Too teams followed. Many young children enthusiastically performed. Of course, IACA gave Hung-Bao to all the young children and hoped that all of them are going to have a wonderful and blessed year of the horse. One of the reasons you came to the party was the dinner. Numerous dishes of Chinese food were provided. Many of us piled food as high as small mountains. There was an urgent food shortage for a short period of time, fortunately, more food arrived before the entertainment started. Chinese folk songs and opera were performed. Many expressed that Chinese arts are unique and very enjoyable. The performers we invited were magnificent. Thank you for the comments. I like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers who helped
with registration, usher, set-up, clean-up and taking the pictures. Council members at the Chinese New Year Party (l-r) Shao-Ling Fong,
